Main Purpose of the Project


This project aims at the manufacturing of a microfluidic biochip prototype to identify the number of Total Lymphocytes (CD3+), T helper Lymphocytes (CD3+, CD4+), suppressor/cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CD3+, CD8+) and immature T lymphocytes (CD3+, CD4+, CD8+) in the human blood.

Main Targets of the Project:

O1.Development, manufacturing, classification and testing of a microfluidic chip for the identification of lymphocyte number. Technology transfer.
O2.Connecting the Romanian applicative research and technological developments to the progress and demands of the national and international socio-economic environment.
O3.Development of partnerships between the research and the private sector.
O4. Stimulation of the expenses of the private research – development sector, for its own activities as well as for the collaboration with research organisations.
O5.Disemination of outcomes.

Envisaged Outcomes


Manufacturing of a microfluidic biochip prototype to identify the number of Total Lymphocytes (CD3+), T helper Lymphocytes (CD3+, CD4+), suppressor/cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CD3+, CD8+) and immature T lymphocytes (CD3+, CD4+, CD8+) in the human blood.

BIOLIMF Projects Outcomes


Stage 1 – 2016 – Design of the microfluidic device for the identification of the number of lymphocytes. During Stage 1 of the project, the partners, IMT si DDS, carried out:

- Design of the electrochemical elements on CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ lymphocyte count lines.
- Design of the microfluidic system and testing compartments, disintegration solution and disintegration -stop solution and of the reaction chamber.
- Design of the final device incorporating the electrochemical device in the microfluidic platform.
- Construction of the project website.

Stage 2 – 2017 – Simulation, comparative analysis and technological development. Technological adjustment and optimisation.

During Stage 2 of the Project, the partners, IMT si DDS, carried out:
- Simulation, Analysis and Selection Technical Report;
- Simulation and selection data/parameters;
- Preliminary and enhanced technological solutions; Preliminary documentation for individual technological processes;
- Market and impact survey;
- Optimised Technological Process Datasheets; Process Follow-up Datasheet; Process Classification Procedures and Control Gates; Classification Datasheets, Masks; Electrochemical Segment; microfluidic device
- Technical Feasibility Study;
- Dissemination.

Stage 3 – 2018 – Execution and testing of intelligent impedimetric biosensor prototypes to identify the number of lymphocytes. Prototype verification. Technological Transfer Documentation.
